AYANA RESORT AND SPA BALI HONORED WITH AWARDS BY TRAVEL+LEISURE AND AB-ROAD:

•    ONLY BALI HOTEL AMONGST ASIA’S TOP 15, AS VOTED BY T+L READERS IN WORLD’S BEST AWARDS 2009
•    TOP HOTEL IN BALI, AS VOTED BY AB-ROAD MAGAZINE

AYANA Resort and Spa Bali is proud to announce that it has been named amongst the world’s top resorts in the Travel + Leisure 2009 World’s Best Awards readers’ survey, and was ranked Bali’s number one resort by leading Japanese travel magazine AB-Road.

The acclaimed property was the only hotel in Bali – and Indonesia – to make the list of Asia’s top 15 resorts in Travel + Leisure’s respected annual poll, coming in at number 13 based on reader votes from around the globe.

Meanwhile, Bali was named the world’s best island destination by Travel + Leisure readers, putting last year’s winner Galapagos into second place.

The Travel + Leisure ranking is consistent with the award earlier this month from AB-Road, which put AYANA Number One on its list of Ten Best Bali Hotels.

These awards come just three months after AYANA’s rebranding to an independent property under the management of US-based West Paces Hotel Group.

“These awards are a significant milestone for AYANA following our rebranding,” said General Manager Charles de Foucault. “It is an absolute honor to be the only Bali hotel ranked amongst Asia’s best resorts by Travel + Leisure readers, on the island voted number one in the world, and to be voted the Best Bali Hotel by AB-Road. It shows that our commitment to the highest standards of service and luxury is stronger than ever under Horst Schulze and his team at West Paces, and we are continuing to upgrade our facilities to remain the most innovative, premier destination resort in south-east Asia.”

This upgrade includes the Rock Bar, Bali’s most glam sunset and after-dark destination. This spectacular open-top bar is located on natural rocks 14 meters above the Indian Ocean at the base of AYANA’s towering cliffs. Accessed via an inclinator that traverses the cliff-face, this jaw-dropping venue offers uninterrupted sunset views from every single vantage point. Designed by Yasuhiro Koichi of Japan’s Design Studio SPIN, whose works include NOBU Tokyo and NOBU Hong Kong, it includes a DJ booth carved into the cliff-face and a natural cave leading to an additional sunset viewing platform.

“AYANA’s reputation for service and our renowned facilities – including the Thermes Marins Bali Spa, Aquatonic Pool, Dava restaurant and our cliff-top wedding venues – have made it a favorite escape for people from all over the world since the property first opened in 1996,” said Charles. “The owners have continually invested in this resort and the ‘wow’ factors just keep coming, as with the Rock Bar. No sunset in Bali will ever compare to the experience that awaits you in this sensational setting amongst the rocks, right over the breaking waves.”
